Scholarships

The PTG Foundation sponsors two types of scholarships to help PTG members advance their education.

Convention & Exam Scholarships

The Piano Technicians Guild Foundation offers scholarships each year to members intending to take their final RPT examination during the current year’s PTG Annual Convention & Institute.

The scholarships provide individual recipients with funds for the convention member registration fee, as well as examination fees to cover the applicant’s choice of either the PTG Technical Examination or the PTG Tuning Examination. Up to eight scholarships are awarded annually. Applications are due by April 30.

To be considered, an applicant must:

  • Have passed two RPT exams
  • Take the third test at the upcoming PTG convention

Leadership Scholarships

The Piano Technicians Guild Foundation offers ten leadership scholarships each year to PTG members who hold office in their local PTG chapters as president, vice president, secretary, or treasurer.

The scholarships provide individual recipients with an exam voucher to cover the applicant’s choice of either the PTG Technical Examination or the PTG Tuning Examination. This voucher can be used to pay for either RPT exam at any exam site. This includes the PTG annual convention, regional conferences, seminars, and local testing sites. A leadership scholarship recipient may also apply for a convention & exam scholarship.

To be considered, an applicant must:

  • Have passed the written RPT exam (Now available online).
  • Hold office within a local PTG chapter (president, vice president, secretary, treasurer).
  • Have been prescreened to take either the tuning or technical exam.
